NARRATIVE DESIGN STUDIO
Narrative Design Studio is an interior design firm based in San Francisco, focusing on residential and boutique hospitality projects. We begin each project by understanding the client's objectives for the space. Environmental and historical influences specific to the location guide our process and give a project its roots. Working in collaboration with architects, artisans and fabricators who value quality craftsmanship, we weave together a cohesive narrative that gives each project its own unique identity.
Narrative Design Studio was founded by Bay Area native, Shannon Niehenke. Her lifelong passion for art led to programs in art and architecture in Cambridge, England and Rome, Italy during high school and college. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon, Shannon worked for Brayton Hughes Design Studio on Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons hotel projects. She also spent five years at NICOLEHOLLIS as a lead Hospitality designer, where she focused on hotels, wineries, and small boutique hospitality projects. Shannon’s aim has always been to create timeless interiors in harmony with the architecture and surrounding environment.
