The Studio
Narrative Design Studio is an interior design firm based in San Francisco, focusing on residential and boutique hospitality projects. We begin each project by understanding the client's objectives for the space.
Environmental and historical influences specific to the location guide our process and give a project its roots. Working in collaboration with architects, artisans and fabricators who value quality craftsmanship, we weave together a cohesive narrative that gives each project its own unique identity.
Shannon Niehenke
Narrative Design Studio was founded by Bay Area native Shannon Niehenke. Her lifelong passion for art led her to study art and architecture in Cambridge, England and Rome, Italy during high school and college. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon, Shannon went on to work at highly regarded design firms, gaining experience across both residential and hospitality projects, including hotels, wineries, and boutique destinations. Her work is informed by a deep appreciation for place, materiality, and architectural context.
